EMVision Receives $10M Investment from Keysight

Australian medical device company, EMVIsion has received a US$10 million strategic investment from Keysight Technologies, a global leader in measurement technology.
 
EMVision develops portable brain imaging technology, this investment provides a fully funded commercial runway for its emu device. The funds allow for clinical trials, data for regulatory approval, and entry to larger markets. 
 
Production capacity for the emu device can be increased and clinical trials can expand into centers in the United States. 
 
The EMVision emu brain scanner is working to advance stroke care, designed to provide rapid diagnostic imaging to accelerate the delivery of urgent care where traditional imaging modalities such as MRI and CT are not readily available. 
 
The device consists of a strap that is placed on the patient’s head for scans and image generation. Rapid insights are provided at the patient’s bedside through safe, ultra-high frequency radio signals and AI. 
 
Emu is designed for use in stroke and neurology wards, intensive care units, and rural emergency departments. Healthcare professionals can operate it with minimal training.
 
This marks Keysight’s first global investment in innovative point-of-care medical imaging. This follows Keysight and EMVision’s original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supply partnership in 2022, where EMVision secured exclusively in the neuroimaging field for the VNA “fast sweep” feature. This feature acts as the ‘brain’ for all EMVision devices.

EMVision is also developing a backpack-sized scanner for first responders. It will weigh less than 10 kilograms and is intended for use on the road and air ambulances. This device would allow paramedics to scan and send images to specialists to enable faster diagnosis and treatments. 
 
The emu device is planned for market entry next year, with the first responder device to follow.
